    The Planning and Zoning Department provides a range of essential services to the citizens of Fenton.  Besides providing technical support to the Fenton Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment for short and long-range land use planning, zone code review and amendments, and mapping, the Planning and Zoning Department is also responsible for code enforcement.  St. Louis County issues building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permits.

Other permits issued include commercial/residential occupancy, commercial re-occupancy, signs and banners, blasting, excavation, and demolition permits.  The City of Fenton does not have business license requirements but requires that plumbing and electrical contractors be licensed by St. Louis County.
